Charities Run by Mr. Jahangir

..
.

Charity by Individual is not generally found in Bangladesh. Its like breaking the mould and a new challenge. Jahangir's life is being threatened by local HOOLIGANS / terrorists, as he is trying to make revolutionary approach for social reforms; through own sacrifices and love for mankind.

Mr. Jahangir has now decided to spent rest of his lives in social services. As desired by his late father, he has donated all his earnings: wealth and properties worth of US$ TWO MILLION to create these institutions:

1) An orphanage for 100 orphans, where more than 1765 orphans were being rehabilitated for the last 30yrs. Each of the orphans were being provided fatherhood and motherhood responsibilities for 16 to 18 years. Many of them are well established in the society. The complex was established with an area of 5.6 acres of land. The main complex consists of 30 rooms with an area of 12000sqr.ft, built in 1970 many can collapse at any time, causing a great human disaster, needs funding to repair/rebuilding on Emergency basis to save the lives of 100 orphans. Now we need international support to continue our humanitarian efforts.

2) In memory of  his late mother (Fatema Matin) a Women Degree College (named: Fatema Matin Women Degree College) was established in 1993, now 845 girls with teaching staff of 65,The college offering Degree in Commerce, Science & Social studies .This is only girl college for a population of 1 million of this area. All girls have to walk around 10-12 K.M per day to attend college education, as no buses or no transportation services are available. Education rate is about 12% but women 4/5 %, need more education intervention. Poor students were being provided free teaching aid, college uniforms & school scholarships too. We solicit financial support to continue our activities. Empowering women trough education.

Children of Charfassion Orphanage

3) Mobile clinics for mother & child health care ran for last 10 years for the remotest islanders of Charfassion, for a population over 200,000 who are living in different dotted islands of that area. In  some areas, to approach it requires 7/8 hours by a country boat in peace time but in a disaster situation, we cannot even reach in 7/8 days. There is no doctor, no medical camps. Most of them are fishermen, who catch fish in a deep sea. They do not have any contact with main land, no schooling facilities available, we run adult literacy classes as for the children. All services are free including medicine. The project is about to be closed due to funding crisis. Solicit funding.

4) Established a RURAL COMMUNITY LIABRARY (RCL) at Fatema Matin Women Degree College.
